Nicaragua Travel Adventures: Colonial Tour
The colonial tour was designed for the history buff at heart. While the country's archeology is still very much undiscovered, one thing remains true: Nicaragua boasts some of the oldest and largest colonial cathedrals and most beautiful colonial cities that are still very much intact.
Day 1: Your journey begins with your arrival to Managua, Nicaragua. You should plan to arrive at the airport (MGA) by 1:30pm where you will be met and greeted by your Eco Xpedition Tours leader. We will take a private transfer north to the colonial capital of Leòn where we will check into an eco friendly hotel in the heart of the Leòn. Once refreshed we will take a short city tour and learn about its fascinating history. In the evening we will enjoy a Nicaraguan organic cuisine accompanied by entertainment. (D)
Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel we will begin on our colonial adventure of the cathedrals, churches and museums of Leon. We will enjoy a lunch in the city and then transfer to Leòn Viejo and discover the ruins of the original colonial capital before it was buried by a volcanic eruption at the foot of the smoking Momotombo Volcano. We will transfer to the rural town of San Jacinto and witness the boiling mud pits of Los Hervideros de San Jacinto. We will return to Leòn for dinner.

Put on your bathing suit and we embark on our way to Poneloya Beach to catch some waves with lessons offered by a local surfing instructor.
